Well that was not good!!!
Wind , rain, more rain, more wind and cold, what a disastrous day. The mighty Martinborough Fair was cancelled, first time in 35 years wow!

Feeling so bad for all the stallholders that have travelled from around the country to set up here in town and to be told on Saturday morning at 7am that it was cancelled is just harsh.........totally understandable that it was cancelled but still so harsh for them.

Lets all hope that the weather gods make up for it next year and give us a couple of days to remember!!

SCARLET now has lots of my work in store......ha ha!

Martinborough Fair No 2

A few days away now until the 2nd Martinborough Fair.

The weather unfortunately is not forecasting very good for Saturday.....hopefully our little town will deliver as it usually does and another great day will be had.

I will be in the square grassed area again selling my work and SCARLET will also be open 8am-3pm under the watchful eye of the lovely Marlene. (Should the weather be really shocking, I will have most of my work at SCARLET )

I have made some new large wooden crosses, flower chains, red wire flowers and yes!! to all the people who have requested.....I have finally completed a couple of my wire dresses..Yah!!...sorry it has taken me so long.

Also, my latest project that I have been working on is to apply my technique to furniture.......see my cute wee table, very vintage shabby chic!!! I am hoping to have some pieces available for sale in SCARLET in the next few months.

One down, one to go.........the first Martinborough fair has been and gone and the second is looming fast so lots of work still to be done. I hope the weather is a bit warmer on the day for the next one.....Gosh it was cold last time!!!

Some new mirrors have arrived at SCARLET, just love them!
They can be wall hung either way or just casually lean them against a wall......What a statement piece for a bedroom, hall, lounge or in my case my entrance/laundry area has become home to a rather LARGE one!

Also vintage glass, silver trays, scented soy candles, perfume bottles, pewter jewellery boxes, pearls and of cause beautiful roses..... what more could a girl ask for on her dressing table?

Hi ya
Counting down, 4 days to go... until the huge fair in our little town of Martinborough.
Hope the weather is going to behave and that the crowds turn up to have a lovely day here.

I have been working like mad on the products for my stall, I will be selling my Wire Hearts, Vintage style wooden Crosses and my colourful Wall Flowers.

So if you are coming to Martinborough and are wanting to pay me a visit, my stall is No 1025 on the grassed area in the square centre......I would love to see you!

SCARLET is open for business on the day also 8.30am-2.30pm.

Happy New Year!!
Had a fab few days at the beach over Christmas, the weather was perfect and I feel well rested.

A New Year, new challenges, new inspirations, new motivations. I am looking forward to producing some new works this year, feeling really inspired with some beautiful new colour palletes that I am just loving at the moment.

SCARLET had a busy Xmas / New Year period and I have met some really nice people from all around, who have been holidaying in our lovely Martinborough. Lots of nice comments were made and a few of my pieces are winging their way back overseas.

The lovely Sarah from Songbird Designs has restocked SCARLET with her work and my butterflies are literally flying out the door at the moment........both have been great pressie ideas!!!

We'll it's nearly here Christmas, Christmas, Christmas......you gotta love it!

I have had an extremely busy last few months filling wholesale orders and buying up large some beautiful pieces for SCARLET.

In stock are gorgeous glass soy candles from Reloved Vintage, some lovely art pieces, groovy bus blinds, french prints, the most cutest hair pins, earrings and pendants from Songbird Designs, napkin rings to dress up any festive table and beautiful platters, bowls and dishes in white & vibrant xmas red and green.

Also in stock is a good range of our sort after large french inspired ornate mirrors and still at fabulous prices.

A few more letters made.......very pretty in pinks, would look lovely in any girls room, young or old.

Also I have displayed a table at SCARLET in white, silver and beautiful vintage glass with stunning red roses....looks amazing. I could live with this look forever!!

Well its the start of the crazy time of year......just over a month till Christmas Day.

I have had a hugely busy few weeks filling wholesale orders and trying to keep SCARLET stocked with pieces....Do you like my E?

Today I had a stall at the 'Cross Hills Country Fair' in the Manawatu......what an absolutely brilliant event!!!.......looks like another Martinborough Fair in the making. A big thumbs up to Angela and her team for putting together another great day....especially the complimentry coffee and gorgeous muffins on arrival....you must have read my mind, just what we needed after our drive there!!

POP UP Wallflowers!!

In Wakefield St, Wellington the latest POP UP design store is in full flight and my Wallflowers have been selling well there. The store was originally opening for a month but sales are going well and they have decided to extended there stay untill mid December.

So if you are in the area check it out, there is some beautiful work by some very talented artisans & designers.

Saturday 22nd October, in about 24 hours the mighty AB's will be playing in the final of the Rugby World Cup and the whole country seems to be holding it's breath in anticipation of the outcome. Hopefully with a good win under our belts some serious Christmas Shopping can get under way.........In store at SCARLET, a new range of cushions ' Urban Legends' and ceramic cutlery moulds that would look great on a kitchen wall......oh lala very french!

Into October allready.........wow where did September go.!!!

SCARLET is filling up with new season stock arrivals......gorgeous scented candles and french soaps, large platters, salad bowls, funky table runners and food covers along with some lovely table decorations for this summers outdoor entertaining and always..always new creative pieces from our resident artisans.

'Kim Christina' has delivered some new necklaces, rings & bangles in her gorgeous trade mark bright colours for summer.
'Arthaus' (Lisa England) has two large screen printed crosses in store and her beautiful ceramic hearts in pretty florals are always popular.

We also have these large Lanterns that certainly make a statement with great effect on any outdoor table.

My latest piece has been to create a hanging Daisy chain in soft pretty colours.

I have officially made it through 1 great year @ SCARLET and still loving it........so to celebrate this week I am going to have a 'Specials Table' in the shop with some great bargins.......beautiful pieces at very special prices.

What a great time of year........my absolute favourite!!!

Feeling very inspired and looking forward to months of gorgeous warm sunny days here in lovely Martinborough.
There's always heaps on in our little town, over the next few months it really comes to life, so always worth a visit. Stay for a weekend in one of the many homestays or spoil yourself with a room at a boutique hotel and of course it goes without saying check out some of our award winning wines!!! (and visit SCARLET!! )

I can't seem to help myself at the moment I'm constantly rearranging the shop and love finding new ways to display the products.

A few new creations (heart chains) have been made and are proving popular. Also check out Jeannie Hancock's awesome paper mache torso's and of course SCARLET always has a good range of work by Lisa England, her beautiful ceramic hearts , plywood quotation blocks, and screen printed panels.

Gift Fair

Had a fab weekend in Auckland.......weather was beautiful, flights were good, company was great...lots and lots of laughs and way to much wine and food...... and yes I did complete some work while I was there.

The Gift Fair was pretty full on and way to much money got spent......some gorgeous products will be arriving at SCARLET over the next few weeks......so if in Martinborough please pop in and say hello and check out the new stock.

Been a little time since my last post, so thought I had better put pen to paper .....so to speak.

SCARLET has been ticking along quite nicely through winter.....of course at a quieter pace than the summer brings and I have been enjoying having the time to talk to my customers. I have met some really nice locals and it's great to have a chat and get to know them, also the many vistors that we get here in Martinborough.

Did a bit of a spring clean in the shop today and took a few pics for this post. Check out the gorgeous mirrors, they are just fab and make a WOW factor in any room.......I just love them!!!

I'm off to the Gift Fair in Auckland next week so looking forward to having a spend and purchasing some new products.......Watch this space!!!!

Finally finished the last two pieces for Mana Gallery in Auckland...... it's been a busy few weeks, the orders are starting to come in for my wire work and SCARLET has been ticking along nicely too.

I think everyone is really starting to wonder about the impact that the Rugby world cup is going to have on the country and their retail stores, so are ordering up in preparation.........Let's just hope it is going to be great!!!!.......we could all do with it.

What a beautiful day it was today, real contrast to the weather of late.......you would never know that it was the middle of winter, felt like a warm spring day..even the sheep outside had that contented spring sound to them.

I have just completed these two large hearts, part of an order for MANA Gallery in Parnell, Auckland...the white one is so pretty....very Shabby Chic! would look lovely in a white on white room.

Gosh....what horribly unsettled weather we have been experiencing lately....quite gloomy!!
Great to be able to focus my attention on some new work...I have been making these crosses for a few weeks now and I am surprised how they have taken off.....they are selling really well, a good selection is always available in SCARLET

They are made of wood with paint effects, some lovely papers & stamping on them.......hubby does such a great job of cutting them out for me.

Wall Flowers

My new wallflowers!, I have made these out of corogated iron (you can see the ripple), when hung on your wall they have a real 3D effect and look really neat.
I have made them in the 2 sizes small/large and on mass on your wall create a really good look.......they are selling very well for me.....hope you like!

Wonder what a really huge one would look like???......Hmmm

I am working on some crosses now in the same colourful prints....I will post them here as soon as they are finished....so please call back soon..X

It's been nearly a year now since I opened my wee store SCARLET in Martinborough and I am loving every minute of it.
Stocked with the French Homewares that I love so much......beautiful hand made cushions, gorgeous crockery and glassware, fabulous mirrors, french soaps, baskets, handmade pieces, my wire art and a range of clipped and trimmed Topiary at the door.

As well as my own creations, SCARLET also stocks work by some other very talented artists.

These Art panels are by 2 absolutely lovely ladies Natasha Bank and Rahel Williams........their work is vintage inspired and just beautifully crafted.
